Maryland TB Statistics

The Maryland tuberculosis control program is based on several principles related to tuberculosis control including ensuring treatment is completed and prevention of drug resistance. To that end, directly observed therapy, direct observation of each dose of tuberculosis medication, is the standard of care. The use of four drug initial therapy, another standard, has resulted in a minimum of acquired drug resistance in Maryland.
