Maryland's Arbovirus Surveillance
Testing Results 2003
(Updated 04/27/04)

Avian

The Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) discontinued pickup and testing of dead birds in 2003 once the virus became established throughout the State.

At present, the U.S. Department of Defense and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources are continuing to monitor arboviral activity in both live and dead birds in Maryland. The map below depicts results of those surveillance efforts for 2003.
