Welcome to Maryland’s Emerging Infections Program

The Emerging Infections Program (EIP) is a population-based network of the CDC and state health departments to assess the public health impact of emerging infections and to evaluate methods for their prevention and control. Maryland joined the EIP in 1997 and now participates with nine other states. The Emerging Infections program consists of two components: the Active Bacterial Core surveillance and the Foodborne Diseases Active Surveillance Network.
